Pienza cheeses

Peinza is a delightful little town that was transformed into what it is today because a pope was born there. This painting is one of the many great shops there. Done at the begining of the year for the Balboa Island artwalk show. Sold

Painting trip.......

At the end of July, Amanda and I went to see our good friend and artist Brent Jensen. We had a fine old time eating great food prepared by the host himself and fine wine from the area. What area you are asking? Well Napa valley of course. It was the only place that wasn't 100 degrees that weekend. Can't wait for the next trip.

Bernini's fountain

Another painting of Italy, this one from St. Peters Square in Rome, "Berninis fountain" of which there are two. This was very challenging as there was virtually no color except for the people. The little girl in front of the fountain with her mother struck me as a good comparison of the sheer size of the fountain. Sold

Convent window, Siena

Well, it's been quite a while since I updated my blog. So, here are some works I did at the begining of the year and more recently. This painting is from a convent in Siena, where Amanda and I stayed in 2007. The convent had been converted into a hotel in the last 2 years before. It was very old worldly with very large rooms, and you could open the windows and shutters, see the sun rise and hear the church bells. The stained glass windows were mostly round bottle bottoms leaded together.

Crystal Cove cottage

This is my latest painting at "Crystal Cove" state beach in Corona del Mar. One of the cottages that has not been refurbished yet.

Balboa Island Artwalk

Well, its that time of year again, artshow season. Well, around here anyway. I'll be gearing up for the Balboa Island Artwalk in May. I have recently completed a workshop with Randall Sexton, who got the "artists choice" award at the LAPAPA anual show at the Laguna art museum. The workshop was much fun, and I would have gone on for more days it was so enjoyable. The workshop was put on through Debra Huse's gallery on Balboa Island. More info on that show as it becomes available. I never posted shots last year because they came out so, well, blue. I had forgot to set the white balance on my camera. I did however figure out how to correct the problem in photoshop, so I'll post a couple.
